MQ-9 Reaper Drone News: आधुनिक युद्ध में drones की ताकत और उनकी vulnerabilities एक साथ सामने आ रही हैं। अमेरिका ने हालिया Iran conflict और Middle East operations में अपने MQ-9 Reaper drones की बड़ी संख्या खो दी है, लेकिन इसके बावजूद ये unmanned aircraft combat missions में लगातार इस्तेमाल किए जा रहे हैं। इसी बीच भारत भी अपने ambitious MQ-9B Predator drone programme को आगे बढ़ा रहा है और Indian Navy ने दो अतिरिक्त MQ-9B SeaGuardian drones को lease पर लेने के लिए नया समझौता किया है।

रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, अमेरिका के लगभग 45 MQ-9 Reaper drones conflict के दौरान खोए हैं, जो उसकी मूल operational fleet का करीब एक-चौथाई हिस्सा है। इन losses के बावजूद अमेरिकी military ने MQ-9 को combat operations से हटाया नहीं है।

आखिर MQ-9 Reaper इतना महत्वपूर्ण क्यों है?

MQ-9 Reaper को दुनिया के सबसे capable medium-to-high altitude, long-endurance unmanned aircraft systems में गिना जाता है। यह surveillance, intelligence gathering और strike missions जैसे कई roles निभा सकता है।

कई वर्षों से यह अमेरिकी military के लिए counter-terrorism और intelligence operations का एक प्रमुख platform रहा है। इसकी सबसे बड़ी ताकत लंबे समय तक हवा में बने रहने और बड़े क्षेत्र में लगातार निगरानी करने की क्षमता है।

लेकिन Iran conflict ने एक दूसरी तस्वीर भी दिखाई है—advanced air-defence और contested airspace में बड़े और comparatively slow drones को गंभीर खतरा हो सकता है।

करीब 45 MQ-9 Losses ने US को क्यों चिंता में डाला?

Times of India की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, 18 अगस्त 2026 तक अमेरिका लगभग 45 MQ-9 Reaper drones खो चुका था। सभी losses सीधे enemy fire की वजह से नहीं हुए; कुछ मामलों में communication failures जैसे कारण भी शामिल बताए गए हैं।

इससे पहले अमेरिकी Air Force अधिकारियों ने Congress को बताया था कि MQ-9 fleet की संख्या combat attrition के बाद करीब 135 aircraft तक पहुंच गई थी, जबकि service अभी भी दुनिया भर में अपनी combat and surveillance requirements को पूरा करने की कोशिश कर रही थी।

Losses इतने महत्वपूर्ण रहे हैं कि US policymakers और military leadership ने fleet को दोबारा मजबूत करने और future में ज्यादा affordable, attritable drones विकसित करने पर चर्चा तेज कर दी है।

Slow Drone, High Threat: MQ-9 की सबसे बड़ी चुनौती

MQ-9 Reaper को ऐसे समय में डिजाइन किया गया था जब अमेरिकी military अक्सर relatively uncontested airspace में operations कर रही थी।

लेकिन Iran जैसे adversaries और modern air-defence systems वाले environments में स्थिति बदल जाती है। Large drones की comparatively lower speed और predictable flight profile उन्हें surface-to-air missiles और दूसरे anti-aircraft threats के लिए vulnerable बना सकती है।

यही वजह है कि आधुनिक drone warfare अब सिर्फ endurance और sensor capability की race नहीं रही। Survivability, electronic warfare resistance, stealth और affordability भी उतने ही महत्वपूर्ण हो गए हैं।

फिर भी US MQ-9 Reapers को Combat में क्यों उड़ा रहा है?

बड़े नुकसान के बावजूद MQ-9 का इस्तेमाल जारी रहने की एक बड़ी वजह इसकी operational utility है।

यह platform intelligence, surveillance और reconnaissance missions में लंबे समय तक किसी क्षेत्र को monitor कर सकता है। जरूरत पड़ने पर armed configuration में precision strike missions भी कर सकता है।

Air Force ने fleet losses के बावजूद अपनी global combat requirements को पूरा करने की क्षमता बनाए रखने की बात कही है।

यानी अमेरिका के लिए MQ-9 पूरी तरह replaceable platform नहीं है। यही कारण है कि losses के बाद भी इसे operational missions में इस्तेमाल किया जा रहा है।

India भी कर रहा है MQ-9B Programme पर बड़ा निवेश

भारत ने अक्टूबर 2024 में अमेरिका के साथ 31 MQ-9B High Altitude Long Endurance drones खरीदने का समझौता किया था। इनमें SeaGuardian और SkyGuardian variants शामिल हैं, जिन्हें Indian Navy, Army और Air Force की अलग-अलग operational requirements के अनुसार इस्तेमाल किया जाना है।

भारत को इन drones की deliveries 2029 से शुरू होने की उम्मीद है, हालांकि final delivery schedule programme execution पर निर्भर करेगा।

यह programme India की surveillance और long-range intelligence capabilities को मजबूत करने की दिशा में एक बड़ा कदम माना जा रहा है।

Indian Navy को मिले दो और MQ-9B SeaGuardian Drones

MQ-9B programme के बीच भारत ने एक और महत्वपूर्ण कदम उठाया है।

17 अगस्त 2026 को Ministry of Defence ने अमेरिकी कंपनी General Atomics Aeronautical Systems के साथ करीब ₹1,943 करोड़ का agreement किया, जिसके तहत Indian Navy दो MQ-9B SeaGuardian drones को 30 महीने की lease पर लेगी।

इन drones का इस्तेमाल maritime surveillance और reconnaissance missions के लिए किया जाएगा।

भारत के विशाल समुद्री क्षेत्र और Indian Ocean Region में बढ़ती strategic competition को देखते हुए ऐसी long-endurance surveillance capability बेहद महत्वपूर्ण मानी जाती है।

Indian Ocean में India के लिए MQ-9B क्यों अहम है?

India के लिए MQ-9B का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण उपयोग समुद्री क्षेत्र में हो सकता है।

SeaGuardian जैसे drones लंबे समय तक उड़ान भरते हुए:

  • Ships और maritime traffic को monitor कर सकते हैं
  • Suspicious activity पर नजर रख सकते हैं
  • बड़े समुद्री क्षेत्रों में surveillance बढ़ा सकते हैं
  • Intelligence gathering में मदद कर सकते हैं
  • Naval operations के लिए real-time situational awareness improve कर सकते हैं

भारत पहले से MQ-9 platforms को lease arrangements के जरिए operational experience के लिए इस्तेमाल कर चुका है और अब नई deal Navy की surveillance capability को और मजबूत कर सकती है।

क्या US के MQ-9 Losses से India के Programme पर सवाल उठते हैं?

यह सबसे महत्वपूर्ण सवाल है।

हालिया combat losses यह जरूर दिखाते हैं कि MQ-9 जैसे large, long-endurance drones high-threat airspace में invulnerable नहीं हैं। लेकिन इसका मतलब यह नहीं कि platform की utility खत्म हो गई है।

Drone की effectiveness पूरी तरह उसके mission environment पर निर्भर करती है।

एक highly contested airspace में जहां advanced missiles और integrated air-defence मौजूद हो, वहां MQ-9 के लिए खतरा काफी अधिक हो सकता है। वहीं maritime surveillance, border monitoring, intelligence gathering और permissive या semi-contested environments में इसकी endurance और sensor capability बेहद उपयोगी हो सकती है।

इसलिए India के लिए MQ-9B programme का मूल्यांकन केवल US के combat losses के आधार पर नहीं, बल्कि Indian operational requirements के संदर्भ में किया जाना चाहिए।

MQ-9B Reaper का Future: More Capabilities, More Survivability

General Atomics भी MQ-9B platform की capabilities को लगातार expand करने पर काम कर रहा है। कंपनी ने 2026 में MQ-9B के लिए long-range weapons capabilities और naval strike missions जैसी नई operational possibilities पर काम करने की जानकारी दी है।

लेकिन broader trend साफ है—future drone warfare में केवल एक highly capable और expensive platform पर्याप्त नहीं होगा।

US military अब ऐसे lower-cost, more expendable और rapidly producible unmanned systems पर भी विचार कर रही है, जो बड़े पैमाने पर deploy किए जा सकें और losses को absorb कर सकें।

India के लिए सबसे बड़ा सबक क्या है?

MQ-9 Reaper के हालिया combat losses India के लिए भी एक महत्वपूर्ण lesson हैं।

Future warfare में drones बेहद शक्तिशाली साबित हो रहे हैं, लेकिन कोई भी drone platform पूरी तरह सुरक्षित नहीं है। उनकी effectiveness इस बात पर निर्भर करेगी कि वे किस तरह के air-defence environment में operate कर रहे हैं और उनके साथ electronic warfare, fighter aircraft, satellites तथा दूसरे surveillance systems कैसे integrated हैं।

India के MQ-9B drones मुख्य रूप से long-range surveillance और maritime domain awareness जैसी क्षमताओं को मजबूत कर सकते हैं। साथ ही हालिया युद्धों ने यह भी दिखाया है कि भारत को बड़े imported platforms के साथ-साथ indigenous, affordable और attritable drone systems के development पर भी तेजी से निवेश करना होगा।

US के लिए MQ-9 Reaper अब भी एक combat workhorse है, लेकिन Iran conflict में हुए भारी losses ने drone warfare की नई reality सामने रख दी है—आज के battlefield में endurance और firepower जितनी जरूरी है, survivability भी उतनी ही महत्वपूर्ण है।
